The Great Bowling Recession: Pt. IX – What Else Have We Got To Do?

March 3rd, 2010  |  Published in Recession/Economics, Sporting Life

Can anyone say 'lock jaw'?

Turns out there are other activities which could be identified as being more anti-capitalist than bowling.  And to find them we need look no further than to our lovable neighbors to the north.  Not Washington, those guys are douches, I’m talking about those socialist-embracing-health-care-providing Canadians and their second national past time.

Fresh off the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver a certain electricity is in the air, charged by our insatiable desire as Americans to play, hell to even understand, curling.  That beautiful game played by sliding stones across an icy surface while members of your team whisk their hearts out with their finally tuned brooming skills.  A skill, mind you, that is becoming increasingly attractive as a skill set tool for the adaptive worker in the New American Economy.

So here’s the news , you can curl right here in the friendly confines of our beloved city, although we also support expatriating yourself to Canada to take up curling if you wish, hell America is slowly becoming a rusty nail anyway, with only an assured promise of tetanus and another open hole for our elected officials to ram their cocks into.

But if you’re hell bent on staying put well best of luck and here’s the goods.  Turns out the Evergreen Curling Club meets irregularly for open houses and holds regularly scheduled leagues at the Lloyd Center and all you have to do is register online at http://www.evergreencurling.org/ .  Plus it’s pretty damn cheap from what I can tell.  Here’s the catch, their open houses are currently full, but they are trying to add more dates and slots, so drop them a line and tell them you’re interested so they ensure more spots for all of the curling crazies who are ready to embrace Canada’s #2 game.

And Remember Bowling Kills Capitalists, and curling might have the same effect.  Stay tuned.
