That’s right folks. Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside is playing in a few short hours at the Doug Fir, and you’re invited. SM will be there shaking our tail feathers after a grueling night of eating Bacon at Baconfest and wandering the streets up on Alberta. Leave it to Sallie Ford though to wash away the weekend and put a smile on your face for the work week. Grab a whiskey and a seat while you can. The show starts at 3:00 (FOR FREE) and so does the Sunday relaxin. Here’s a preview of what you can expect, and a synopsis from Visulite Theatre’s website in North Carolina

“Sallie Ford is originally from Asheville, NC. She grew up in a family of performers where she enjoyed a musical upbringing, singing and playing violin and guitar. She started writing her own songs when she moved to Portland, on a whim in October 2006. Her inspiration for songwriting comes from the vocal stylings of old jazz, blues and soul singers such as Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Etta James. In march 2008 Sallie met drummer Ford Tennis and bassist Tyler Tornfelt.

Jeff Munger, the lead guitarist later joined the band in April 2009 after meeting Sallie when he was performing on the street. All the band members are in their 20′s and although they enjoy older music, they also want to bring a modern twist to their music. Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside currently live in Portland, Oregon. They self released their E.P. “Not an animal” in May 2009 and have plans to release a full length album in fall 2010.”

So…I’ll see you there?
